Nightbitch is a 2024 supernatural comedy starring Amy Adams as Mother (yes that's the name), a mother that struggles with all the little issues regarding parenting, until she slowly discovers that she's transforming into a dog by night hence the film's title. The film itself is not what you expect, I mean sure you might think it would be a body comedy but no, it's actually more about the parenting aspect and the dog thing is kind of a mantle piece so think of it like Big Daddy (1999) but it's the mother and dogs too. But I really do believe that Mother is a funny and enjoyable person to watch with all her odd and reckless behavior throughout and sure, her point of view about parenting may be divisive but it's what makes her such a wonderful character in this film. However, I think Father (Scoot McNairy) was definitely the one that stood out to me.
Everything scene in the film where he was in it was either hilarious or just plain somber and he never really did anything unlikable or bad, he just did what a father does best and that's to (try) raise his child
I think the film is definitely suited towards parents and that kind of life in general because, I'm not a parent myself and I think if viewed from that type of perspective I think you would get a lot more enjoyment than I ever will .But I'm definitely not saying it's bad, in fact it still has some stand out scenes that I won't discuss here because it's something that should be seen to be believed. Oh and heads up, the transformation sequences maybe a bit gross to some but I thought they added a lot to the way most Mothers would think during that situation, and I genuinely liked the way some of those scenes were portrayed, even though they stood on the icky factor.Overall, great film definitely see it when it comes out to all you parents out there and sure it might have some strange sequences but I suppose it fits into the surreal way of raising a child, so that fits in that sense.
