William and Liza mention Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson—yet the film is set in 1875, 12 years before the first Holmes story was published, but that could be a tongue-in-cheek reference, suggesting that Holmes and Watson were real people. Needless to say, the 2024 film Frankenstein: Inheritance was a film that slipped under the radar.
And that was a big letdown
And I stumbled upon it by accident, so I decided to sit down and watch it. I have to admit that I had no expectations for screenwriters Paul Dudbridge and Jim Griffin, as Mary Shelley’s classic story has been reimagined on screen a few too many times, and mostly poorly. The plot in the movie was, to put it mildly, boring. There wasn’t much interesting happening in it, and the movie was more of a historical drama than a thriller.
So the poor CGI effects definitely didn’t help elevate the movie
I didn’t recognize any of the actors or actresses on the cast list. And that’s something that, believe it or not, I really enjoy when I watch a movie; because it doesn’t have any connection to the characters previously introduced in other movies. The acting in “Frankenstein: Legacy” was actually pretty good, despite the fact that the actors and actresses had almost nothing to work with. The CGI in the movie was pretty awful for a movie made in 2024; it looked like something from the early 2000s.
Some of us suffered through 101 minutes, so you don’t have to; you’re welcome
And a movie like the one that director Paul Dudbridge tried to deliver here in “Frankenstein: Legacy” needs proper and convincing special effects. And the movie simply didn’t have them, and the end result was a below average movie. Ultimately, the film was a letdown and not one I would recommend horror fans rush out and watch. In fact, I would go so far as to say that you shouldn’t waste your time, money, or effort on this film, especially if you’re a fan of Mary Shelley’s original work.
